Bathroom really clean and modern, welcoming staff, bed really comfortable

Carpets - could not make my mind up if there had been a flood in the room or a pet had an accident. Friends also stayed at this hotel the same evening and said their carpets were the same. If the carpets had looked clean it would have been perfect (they did not smell)

  • 6/10 George ( Mature couple)

from Peterlee , GB  on  December 19, 2007

"I asked for and was assured I would get a disabled room with a walk in shower, as my legs do not bend at the joints due to an injury. I was not offered any porterage even though staff could see I was having dificulty walking with my case on wheels. If I had not persevered my wife would have had to make two long trips to the bedroom allocated. Due to seasonal parties being held in the hotel there was a drunken element fighting and shouting in the corridors at 02:30. not one of the hotel staff appeared to calm this down which went on for over 15 minutes. this happened both nights without control from hotel staff. WE WILL NOT USE THIS HOTEL AGAIN!" (97194985)

    very comfortable bed, clean room

not really suitable for disabled, no walk in shower as asked for. a bath is not really useful if you can not have full use of your legs. I asked for a walk in shower, was assured there was one, but it was a bath. cant blame reception staff as they changed rooms for us to a basic disabled person bathroom.

    from Marlow , United Kingdom;GB  on  October 13, 2006

"I stay in a lot of hotels and particularly enjoy a stay where you get value for money. This is hotel represents just that.Pleasant and helpful staff. My room was very acceptable for the price. The menu was well balanced with a number of healthy options for those who like it (or need it in my case!). The early opening of the restaurant for breakfast was great because I could get out ahead of the main rush hour. Any criticism would be that the comunal corridors leading to the rooms are fairly basic but no worse than any other hotel in this range. Everything was fine. The car park looked secure as well." (99047483)

Clean, modern, good choice of activities via the TV

"Although the breakfast was lovely, there was no literature in the room to say how much it was going to cost & I did not like asking at reception before going into the dining room. I was a little upset when I was charged " (3304448808)

Loved the modern furnishings and high quality finish. Comfy bed. Lovely bathroom. Second door cut out all the noise from the corridor - exellent idea.

    Nothing to dislike.

  • 9/10 Stephen ( Solo leisure traveller)

  • 7/10 Michael ( Mature couple)

    from Wigan , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 22, 2006

"Overall the accomodation was good, staff friendly and hotel reception welcoming and airy. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment and although we got an old style room this didn't detract from the stay." (3304368604)

Room was very clean and the equipment all worked. The breakfast and breakfast waiter was excellent.

Check-in took longer than it should. Although the receptionist was very friendly and apologised frequently she answered at least 5 phone calls while we checked in. This made the process of checking in quite lengthy. I felt like phoning on my mobile and checking in over the phone so that I could get and retain the receptionists attention.

Perfectly fine visit - nothing amazing but reasonable all round for the money.

  • 9/10 Bobbie ( Group of adult friends)

from St albans , United Kingdom;GB  on  August 11, 2005

"Room was OK for the cost, but the restaurant appeared to be empty most of the time. Excessive noise in the reception / restaurant and bar area was very disturbing. This appeared to be due to the open plan design of the building, and large numbers of children running wild on the Friday evening. Listed restaurant menu prices were high for the type of restaurant and it was little surprise that the restaurant was empty as the environment was not in any way condusive to a relaxing meal." (2576505)

Being able to smoke in the room

Excessive noise in the reception / restaurant area

  • 9/10 James ( Mature couple)

    from Bury , United Kingdom;GB  on  August 9, 2005

"General area of dissapointment is of wedding parties 'taking over' the hotel to deteriment of other guests, but appreciate that they are very lucrative." (2588746)

Roomy and presentable with excellent location.

Noise levels at night from party guests. An additional'Snack' type room service menu would be good.

  • 9/10 Laura ( Family with older children)

from Whitley bay , United Kingdom  on  July 7, 2005

    it was clean and private

the prices of breakfast it was expensive

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Family with young children)

    on  July 6, 2005

"we only required one night and the hotel was good for this reason.the price of the room was good value.there was some activity for the children, which was good.the staff were very helpful and polite. the only downside was the price of the breakfast £10 each seemed a little expensive, as we did not know the price before we booked.this would not stop us booking a room in the future, maybe for longer than one night." (2470894)

room was clean and of a good size as we had 2 young children

as we only stayed one night nothing comes to mindwe

  • 7/10 John ( Solo business traveller)

from Whetstone , United Kingdom  on  June 28, 2005

"Room Price was reasonable but food and bar prices were expensive Parking was extremely difficult on arrival due to day delegates presumably as it was fine from late evening onwards Limited supply of tea, coffee and sugar in room although housekeeping quickly and readily supplied more Room very hot (Exceptionally high outside temperature) and window could only be opened a fraction No sports channel on room tv Overall clean and comfortable" (2422693)

Compact and easy to find rooms

No air conditioning on an exceptionally hot day Breakfast @ £11.00 was expensive
