"Should have been informed of the works to the hotel and the adjoining areas before we booked. Revamped Restaurant was probably okay for Business and Conference use but too stark for Leisure visitors. And, if the Hotel is now concentrating on Business and Conference usage, Leisure users may prefer to move elsewhere such as Holiday Inn or Hilton." (97431547)

Size of room; Service from most of the Staff; Food and service; Convenience to Shops and Leisure facilities

Works being carried out to Bar area; Car Parking restrictions; Noise from Building and Civil engineering works; Recommendation to park in McDonalds car park.

Novation room was comfortable and well equiped. However poor detail such as hair dryer was provided at dressing table in room but the only mirror was in bathroom.

    Clean, comfortable and central

Lack of drawer space and key card kept deactivating and once broke due to light activator was located too close to the door and it got caught and snapped.

It was nice and modern and having the bathroom direct from the bed side of the bedroom made it feel more like a home than a hotel room

Hanging space was limited, and the number of tea bags etc in the room was very limited - but liked the accomodation though our shower in room 307 leaked, even though the door was shut, and could have been dangerous if we had not noticed on opening the door.

  • 7/10 Zoe ( Young couple)

    from Basingstoke , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 28, 2007

The room was clean and airy. The staff were very friendly but did find telephone conversations a bit trying as poor english speaking staff.

Not all facilities as stated were there or were in working order. Safe did not work and no offer was made to repair or move to another room, unsatisfactory. Mini bar contents very limited.

"We were visiting our son who is at uni in Soton. The hotel was perfect for our needs. The only downside is we wish we had tried the hotel dining room because we were not that impressed with the restaurant we tried on the Saturday night. We would have tried the full English but thought it a bit pricey.. Overall it was great and we didn't have to vacate until 12." (99072169)

The room was lovely and spacious and the bed was comfy hotel beds in my experience are usually uncomfortable

    from Aberdeen , United Kingdom;GB  on  October 27, 2006

Large, clean, functional, comfortable, quiet room. good hanging space. There was a TV loudspeaker in the bathroom so that one could hear the TV while shaving/washing etc. Toilet was separate which was handy.

The mattress seemed to reflect the heat back on me, so although the room temp was fine, I felt as if I was sleeping on top of a warm electric blanket. There was no sheet so I was either too hot with the quilt on, or too cold with the quilt off. I therefore slept poorly the first night. The second night I removed the quilt cover and used that only (leaving the quilt on the settee). A little traffic noise from the dual carriageway below but double glazing helped keep this fairly quiet.

Noise suppression from the noisy Retaio Park and major roads was very effective.

It's location is in a very busy noisy retail park, surrounded by multi-lane roads.

Hotel is well placed for ease of getting into the city and good access to other road and rail networks. Ideal hotel for a short stay." (3305165677)

Room was spacious and very clean. Good view over the city. Position of the hotel very good - close to city, railway station, good parking.
