"I booked this in a hurry and nearly cancelled at the last moment after reading such poor reviews on the Internet. The Windsor is now under new ownership and everything appears to have been addressed. The welcome was warm, the room beautiful, air conditioning,an excellent breakfast especially the sausages!, the proximity to the town centre and Jane Austen lived in the next street at one time and would probably have walked passed the front door! This was a perfect receipe to an excellent break and have already recommended the Windsor to several friends." (97876098)
The warmth of the welcome, the cleanliness, the beautiful surroundings, the surprise after reading dreadful reviews on the Internet, and the close proximity to Jane Austen's Bath.
Having to leave so my husband could go back to work.

"I am only being critical as we were very happy with our stay, but as it was very hot when we stayed, the rooms only had a small inadequete fan, which made it quite uncomfortable. Also I would have preferred breakfast in the dining room. Eating off a table whilst sitting on a sofa/arm chair is not that easy! Finally I have stayed in less expensive hotels with slightly better facilities. For " (3304827181)
Everything was very good. Things that stood out were staff friendliness, homely feel, good standard of decor/cleanliness
There was nothing we disliked.

Staff very good
Overpriced for condition of room decor and amenities. Should be bath robes, water and no extra charge for cooked breakfast etc.

"Ideal location, nice staff and atmosphere. A bit pricey for such a small room, but that's the location." (99893091)
Excellent location for centre of town, relatively easy to park on the street.
Very small room, even for a single. The shower was also too small to be comfortable and I'm only a petite 5'2".

"I had a very enjoyable stay. When i arrived i was given a map of the area and made to feel welcome. The single room with en suite was lovely, although at the top of the hotel. This didn't bother me but should have been highlighted in the room description for those people who have difficulty climbing stairs where no lift is available." (97595291)

"I found all the information I had from the website was fully informative including the directions to the hotel. It was useful to have free internet access available also the car parking. My only complaint and it is not unique to the Windsor, is the lack of proper lighting in the bedroom for reading." (3304714527)
The location was excellent within easy walking distance of all the historical sights and also shops and cafes. The Japanese restaurant was also excellent including the helpful advice about the various dishes on offer.
I really have no dislikes except perhaps the location for breakfast. It is not a major issue however.

"We had a very pleasant stay and the hotel was very convenient for the town centre. The room was elegantly decorated in the style of the hotel and the four-psoter bed was extremely comfortable! The staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was excellent. But our stay was spoiled by serving breakfast in the lounge for the reasons explained above." (3304003314)
The hotel was conveniently located for Bath town centre and fairly easy to find. The ambiance and style of the hotel was very relaxing, and the staff were very polite and helpful.
Coffee/tea facilities were not available in the rooms, although they were available on request in the lounge at no extra charge. Breakfast was served in the lounge, seated in lounge chairs at low tables - very uncomfortable & no good for the back! The reception was also situated in the centre of the lounge - very odd and off-putting as you could hear the reception staff's telephone conversations.

"This is not a hotel for those with disabilities or health problems, if you find yourself on the top two floors. It can be a tiring climb, especially with baggage." (2921276)
The hotel was fine by UK Standards. The room was tiny but clean. Since it is a Heritage Building, there were no lifts, which meant lugging a bulky 30 kg suitcase to the top floor of a high-ceiling four storey hotel. Heart attack stuff. Cleaning staff weren't very friendly. All other staff were excellent, especially the night porter, who was extremely friendly and helpful.

"The two male members of staff that greeted us when we arrived were fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome with the complimentary tea and coffee, whilst our cases were whisked away to our room. It was wonderful to relax after quite a stressful journey and they were top-class. The girls however, were not as accomodating and could be quite ignorant of our needs. There was no offer of carrying the cases back up the two flights of narrow stairs when we were leaving which left a nasty taste in our mouths. A shame that these few minor things will be taken into consideration when returning to Bath next time. The night-porter was also very accomodating and couldn't do enough to make us feel comfortable." (2950739)
The quad room was lovely, it was nice to share a room with all my friends. It was very spacious and had a separate lounge area which was also nice.
The sofa-bed and z-beds were extremely uncomfortable and we could not have slept on them for any longer than the two nights we stayed there.

"Stay was excellent with great staff - only downside was directions to the hotel from the M4 that do not warn you of road works and road closures. The road works look long term so could not some comment be made on the directions show on the web site? Currently it says when you reach the mini island turn right - you cannot do this due to closure and have to go straight on following the diversion signs to Great Poultney Street It's easy enough to follow but it would be nice to be made aware of them" (1559587)
Elegent and comfortable with parking and within walking distance of city. Nice touch with the free newspapers and tea / coffee

"Lovely staff who accommodated my parking needs very well (I was able to pay for a second day's parking). My hair dryer wasn't working, but they found me another one very quickly. I don't think the heated towel rail was working either (or I was unable to work out how to switch it on!) but it didn't matter as I was only there for one night. The cooked breakfast was good (though I've had better quality sausages), but it's a shame that you have to pay extra for it. The continental choice wasn't brilliant, so I felt I needed the cooked one. All the staff I encountered were wonderful - friendly, helpful and efficient. Overall a good hotel in an excellent location, though the extras (parking and breakfast) mean that the bill gets bumped up a bit." (97785164)
Excellent location; bathroom was beautifully appointed; good tv with some digital channels. Good extras like bath products and tea/coffee/biscuits.
Room was very compact! Decor was a little tired.
